Soup for You!

Who We Are

Feed
We continually work to be known as a place for all and work to expand our reach into the community. We know that there are increased numbers of people in the community struggling with food insecurity, with limited income and/or looking for a place to find community. We are always looking for new ways to get the word out to ease the need in the community. We also seek additional partners to donate unsaleable/overstock food (primarily produce) that we then can distribute on our grocery day and one goal is to have enough surplus that we can increase to two grocery days per week.

Nourish

We work to raise the bar on providing healthy and nutritious food both in the meals we serve and the groceries we distribute. In addition we continue to add new foods and flavors to combat food fatigue. One goal is to bring on additional chefs to take turns cooking to bring in new ideas and flavors to the kitchen and provide a break for our existing staff.

Comfort

Soup for You! provides a community for those that may not have many social connections. There is always a listening ear and a variety of guests to visit with. Our house band "The Grateful Fed" plays weekly and usually has a sing-a-long. We would like to expand the entertainment to bring in other musical guests on other days. In addition we would like to expand on some of the community-building outreach activities we have had such as a May Day celebration and a summer solstice parade through the neighborhood.

What We Do

Soup for You! is a gathering space for the Seward/Longfellow community of Minneapolis and beyond. Our guests enjoy a homemade soup lunch complete with sides of bread, salad and desserts.

Monday through Friday, you can pull up a chair with someone you don't know and have a bowl (or two!) of lovingly made soup crafted from fresh ingredients.

But more than just a hot meal, we provide a place for community and social connection. All are welcome at SFY, whether you are experiencing homelessness and poverty, a local neighbor or business person, a student or just someone looking for a nutritious meal in a welcoming space.

Recent favorite soups include ratatouille, borscht, miso tofu, African peanut stew, West Bank chili, and tomato with grilled cheese. Each meal includes a few sides, ranging from artisanal bread, to a farm salad to fresh pesto pasta to yogurt & berries (from the neighborhood!) to fancy cheese plates ... all depending on what we have on hand.
